TLC’s Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins has been speaking publicly about her near-lifelong battle with sickle cell disease, but only recently is she opening up about another serious health scare — a brain tumor that she suffered in 2006.

During a chat with ”Access Hollywood Live” on Monday, T-Boz explained how the tumor essentially wiped out her hearingand her sight, both of which she ultimately regained over a tough, six-year recovery process.

“I was dancing, touring, I should have been dizzy and falling… but I was fine. I had really bad headaches,” she said, adding that her doctors believe the tumor developed as a result of constant cell phone use. “So when I woke up [after the surgery] I was fine, [but] two weeks later I was eating French toast and it falls out of my mouth. All of a sudden my sight is gone, my hearing, I can’t talk, I can’t walk and I’m like, ‘Whoa!’ It kind of hits you by storm,” she went on to say. “I fought so hard to get it back and I’m doing shows again.”

In addition to a reunion tour with bandmate Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and a hologram of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, T-Boz has been busy filming a new reality show, “Totally T-Boz,” an hour-long, four-episode series that debuted earlier this week.

It’s been a rough road for the 42-year-old singer who, in the past ten years, has faced foreclosure, filed twice for bankruptcy and dealt with an abusive marriage that ended in divorce. Yet still, she says her life-threatening health issues aren’t expected to derailed her too much more.

“I feel great. I’m now in a position to get healthier. I’m not where I want to be weight, size and all that, but I’m starting to work out,” T-Boz said.
