CLEVELAND – Cleveland police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed on the city’s west side early Tuesday morning.

Around 12:30 a.m., Cleveland police were called to the 4400 block of West 49th Street just north of Woburn Avenue for reports of a man who had been shot during a home invasion.

On scene, paramedics and officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition. Police tell NewsChannel5 the 25-year-old man died a short time later from his injuries.

Police told NewsChannel5 that five children and three other adults were in the home at the time of the invasion and shooting.

Police said that four masked men entered the home demanding money before shooting the victim.

The children were taken to a neighbor’s home and were said to be unharmed.

No arrests have been made in the case.
