PARMA, OH (WOIO) –

A new plan to take a shopping area and breathe new life into it is underway.

Parmatown Plaza will soon become the Shoppes at Parma.

Big plans for Parma! It’s what they’re calling “a renovation of a retail tradition” with hopes of the area being a popular shopping and dining spot for the community.

Officials revealed designs Wednesday for the renovation of the newly named “Shoppes at Parma.”

“We felt thee was a need to create more of a friendly pedestrian experience,” said Roy Williams of Phillips Edison.

Phillips Edison and company is behind the project. They’re giving a facelift to the center that will include better lighting, outdoor seating, and landscaping with masonry and stucco. The plans were brought before Parma City officials who gave the thumbs up.

“New store fronts. We’re going to remove the existing canopy so that the store fronts become more visible and upscale,” added Williams.
