CLEVELAND – Cleveland police are investigating the death of a 45-year-old woman on the city’s east side.

A group of kids were walking near 9323 Bessemer Ave. and found the body in a field at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, police said. One of the juveniles told her mother, who then called police.

Cleveland police said the woman suffered blunt-force trauma to the head, but the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office will determine cause of death.

Neighbors said they are shocked and that the victim was a nice lady. The victim’s name has not been released, but her daughter talked to NewsChannel5.

“Mother was a nice person. Whoever did it, why they have to do her like that? She got grandkids at home. She has kids. She has family,” Dominique Malone said.

The crime scene is about a mile from where 20-year-old Jazmine Trotter was found dead on Sunday. A family member discovered her body under the porch of a vacant house on East 93rd Street.
