CLEVELAND, OH –
A celebration years in the making as an entire community and people around the world rally for three brave women held captive for a decade.
“It feels like their family and they’re part of the community so it’s kind of a welcome back. We’re glad you are safe,” says Victoria Goins.
“Welcome home girls” is the message written on the back window of Victoria Goins car and it says it all.
Goins is a waitress who used her all of her tip money, 100-bucks to buy items for Amanda Berry and her daughter.
“I went down to Walmart and bought groceries and some outfits for the little one and some outfits for Amanda and a baby doll just a few things for them to have,” says Goins as she holds her son.
Lynne Woodman works with Key bank where the Cleveland Courage Fund has been is set up. Donations to the fund will go to qualified nonprofit organizations to provide services for the women.
“Everyone wants to do something and now there’s a way for people to help,” says Woodman.
Signs are popping up all over town where people are showing they care and have never forgotten.
Strangers touched by the story that is gripping the nation, now giving back to three women whose lives are forever changed.
“It just shows how happy everybody is to have them home and how much the community has seen what they’ve struggled through,” says Goins.
