KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two employees of the truck stop chain Pilot Flying J have agreed to plead guilty in connection with the FBI’s probe of the company.

 

Regional sales director Arnold Ralenkotter pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud in U.S. District Court in Knoxville, Tenn. Regional accounts representative Ashley Smith Judd also pleaded guilty to conspiracy.

 

Federal prosecutors accuse Ralenkotter of “approving, or sometimes reducing, recommended deceptive rebate reductions” involving promised fuel rebates for trucking companies.

Ralenkotter and Judd are the first to be charged in the investigation.

Pilot Flying J is owned by the family of Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.
