CLEVELAND – The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Identification has received additional evidence in the Ariel Castro captivity investigation.
NewsChannel5 confirmed that new evidence has just recently submitted. Earlier this week, the FBI’s evidence response team was back out at Castro’s home.
According to the BCI, beyond the evidence submitted initially, authorities have been submitting additional evidence. It is typical for authorities to submit more evidence as investigations progress.
In addition to DNA, firearms and fingerprint testing, BCI is also looking at other evidence to try to determine if there could be any additional victims.
It’s unknown how long it will take to process the evidence, since the pile keeps growing.
Ariel Castro is accused of kidnapping and holding three women in captivity for more than a decade. During their time in captivity, Castro fathered a child with one of the three women.
Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were rescued on May 6, 2013, when Amanda Berry broke free from the front door of Ariel Castro’s home located at 2207 Seymour Avenue.
