CLEVELAND – The hip-hop star who met Cleveland kidnapping victim, Amanda Berry, spoke to CNN about his encounter.

Berry was invited on stage with Nelly at the annual music festival, Roverfest. She didn’t speak, but she smiled and waved to the crowd.

“What stuck with me the most, first of all, that she had a smile on her face, you know, that’s one of the most impressive things to me, considering everything that she had been through,” Nelly said.

Nelly told CNN he was shocked to learn Berry was a fan of his music.

“That was dope,” the rapper said.

During his performance, Nelly dedicated his hit song, “Just a Dream” to Berry.

Berry’s appearance came one day after Ariel Castro pleaded guilty to 937 counts. Castro will be sentenced Thursday.
