SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio – ODOT District 4 is prepared for the combination of holiday travelers, wind and snow with an impending winter storm.

Forty ODOT plows are assigned to Summit and Stark Counties.

That’s 20 state plows alone in each county.

ODOT is also rolling out its third double plow — this puppy plows two lanes at once and is assigned solely to I 76, clearing the way from Akron to Youngstown.

Some Thanksgiving travelers are talking about delaying plans, others leaving extra early and planning to take it slow.

Taking it slow is a good idea said Justin Chesnic, spokesperson for ODOT District 4, which covers a six-county area including Stark and Summit Counties.

“Stay focused, stay off the phone, avoid distractions and keep extra distance between you and the car ahead,” Chesnic said.

Light snow started falling in Summit County around 3:30 p.m., but one ODOT worker was telling crews at the salt dome Tuesday afternoon to prepare for a long night with the heaviest snow falling around midnight.
