SOLON, OH (WOIO) –

Solon Police Officers are looking for the mother of a human fetus discovered at the City of Solon Water Reclamation Department.

Employees of the plant, located at 6951 Cochran Road, discovered the fetus around 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 29 and immediately called police. It appeared that the fetus had entered the plant very recently.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene along with the Solon Detective Bureau.  The remains were taken to the M.E.’s office for examination and post-mortem.  At this time, there is no other information regarding the fetus.

It is unknown at this time whether there is any criminal activity involved, or whether this was the result of a spontaneous miscarriage or other medical issue of some sort. Investigation will continue.

It is important that the mother in this case receive appropriate medical and psychological care and follow-up.

Information on the identity of the mother can be forwarded to the Solon Police Department Detective Bureau at 440-248-1234.

This is a good time to remind everyone of Ohio’s Safe Haven laws which permit birth mothers to turn custody of unwanted infants over to healthcare, police or fire authorities without fear of consequences.
