NORTHFIELD, OH (WOIO) –
On Tuesday, local media got their first glimpse of the Hard Rock Rocksino, the latest gaming venue in Ohio. It has a rock and roll theme and is getting ready to start rockin’ December 18. Doors open to the public at 6:00 p.m.
There are a lot of finishing touches going on at the Rocksino. Polishing, cleaning, cooking, and new employee’s being taught the “hard rock” way to do things.
It is clear the theme here is different from downtown’s casino. A 2000 seat theatre for bigger acts. A smaller one for smaller acts, and a video wall that comes down when no one is playing.
A Bernie Kosar themed restaurant aims at putting additional sizzle in the place. The whole idea is that it needs to be more than row after row after row of slot machines to compete with other venues.
“I think there’s still some Ohioans that are heading out to Pennsylvania and West Virginia, we hope we can bring them back”, says Jon Lucas, President of Hard Rock Rocksino.
Then there is the memorabilia, like Eddie Van Halen’s motorcycle, Jackson Five Costumes, guitars from band after band and even a comedy club.
“We’re going to make everyone feel like a rock star with they come in,” adds Lucas.
