*Kerry Washington, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong’o are speaking out about their fresh Golden Globe nominations, announced this morning in Beverly Hills by the Hollywood Foreign Press.
“I’m enormously grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this honor,” said Washington, nominated for best actress in a TV drama. She’ll face Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife,” Tatiana Maslany of “Orphan Black,” Taylor Schilling of “Orange is the New Black” and Robin Wright from “House of Cards.”
“It’s humbling to be nominated alongside such talented and hard-working women whose work inspires me,” said Washington.
Ejifor, one of a leading seven nominations for “12 Years a Slave,” says he is grateful for this wave of acclaim.
“Ever since we opened this film back in Telluride, it’s been an especially engaging process and I’ve really enjoyed it,” he said. “Ever since I read script I have found Solomon’s journey incredible and I am just glad that so many people have begun recognizing the film.”
His co-star, Lupita Nyong’o,” revealed where she was this morning when she heard the news: “I’m in Paris now and what a beautiful place to get such beautiful news. I heard it live on the radio and it was a terrifying experience to be waiting. It was a roller coaster, for sure. Exhilarating. I was shocked, horrified and thrilled. I have to admit I didn’t hear the nominations after my name was called, I was too busy screaming and crying, so I have to go look to see who else was nominated. When I heard all the nominations for the film, it was a party, dude! We had our Paris premiere yesterday so there’s been cause for a lot of celebration. It’s been an incredible 24 hours.”
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are returning to co-host the Golden Globes ceremony, which will be held Jan. 12 in Los Angeles.
