CLEVELAND – Free agency kicked off Tuesday and the Browns, who are almost $50 million dollars under the salary cap, are poised to spend.

They locked up Cleveland native and former San Francisco 49ers free agent safety Donte Whitner to a four year deal worth $28.8 million.

The hard-hitting Whitner is a familiar name to Cleveland football fans. Whitner played high school football at Cleveland’s Glenville High School and his college ball at Ohio State University.
