The Ohio Turnpike is closed eastbound and westbound near Sandusky after a massive pileup. The crashes have left at least two people dead, and many others injured.

According to the dispatcher, about a dozen semi trucks jack-knifed in the westbound lanes stopping traffic around 2:30 p.m. At least six more jack-knifed in the eastbound lanes.

An OSHP trooper was severely injured while assisting a multiple-vehicle crash, which stretches over a mile and involves 40 or more vehicles eastbound between mileposts 102 and 103 in Sandusky County.

The trooper was pinned between two vehicles. The crashes have left at least two people dead.
