BRUNSWICK, OH (WOIO) –

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in Brunswick in Medina County.

After surveying the damage Tuesday morning NWS meteorologists classified the twister as an EF1, with wind speeds at 110 mph.

Residents in the area say they are lucky to be alive.

“The garage is pretty much blown apart. My car has got some damage but it’s fixable,” said Mark Seidel. “We have a nine-month old baby. We weren’t home at time. Her room is actually the back corner of the house and her crib sits on that wall. It’s a sobering experience but at the same time we know we’re lucky.”
