PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) –

You may recall 19 Action News did a story about a band of panhandlers that claimed to be homeless and they were using a supermarket to set up shop.

And up until now little has been done to stop them, so one family is taking things into their own hands.

It is a rolling educational campaign, the brainchild of Tarisa Swango. The mom and grandmother got tired of seeing guys in various shopping plazas asking for money so they started fighting back.

“If they were actually homeless it’d be one thing, but they are lying to get this, to get money from other people. It is sad to see,” said Swango.

Swango painted up her SUV with the facts: The guys aren’t homeless. They don’t want a helping hand, they want cash or gift cards.
