(RNN) – A private airplane crashed in the ocean just off the coast of the island of Jamaica after it flew several hours past its expected arrival and through the Caribbean.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the statement by Maj. Basil Jarret of the Jamaican Defense Force that the crash was northeast of Port Antonio.

NORAD tracked the Socata TBM 700 as it flew over the Atlantic and into Cuban airspace. The plane is owned by the real estate firm Buckingham Properties in Rochester, NY.

Two F-15 jets were tracking the plane but had to pull away as it crossed into Cuba. They reported that two pilots appeared slumped in their seats, and the windows had been “frosted up,” according to CNN.
