CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport announced Wednesday Spirit Airlines will begin service here in January.

Spirit, an ultra-low cost carrier, will bring more flying options at lower fares for Northeast Ohio travelers.

“We are extremely excited to have Spirit Airlines launching new low fare non-stop service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE),” said Airport Director Ricky Smith.  “Today’s announcement further establishes CLE as the preferred low fare airport in the region. We thank Spirit Airlines for choosing Northeast Ohio, specifically CLE, as their newest airport market.”

“Over the last few years, we’ve made enormous strides in positioning CLE to be an airport of choice for passengers and airline carriers,” said Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson. “Now our passengers have another option when flying out of CLE.”
