This latest report comes on the heels of the Texas patient, false alarms elsewhere including Hawaii, and the two patients in Atlanta who were both clear weeks later.

 

WASHINGTON, DC (RNN) – Howard University Hospital has admitted a person with Ebola-like symptoms, a hospital spokesperson has confirmed.

According to reports from media in the Washington, DC, area, the person had traveled to Nigeria recently.

“In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient,” hospital spokesperson Kerry-Ann Hamilton said in a statement Friday. “Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health.”

Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan has been under observation in a Dallas hospital after his case was the first confirmed in the United States. His family has been quarantined inside an apartment until at least Oct. 19. Hazmat teams were dispatched Friday to clean the apartment.
