PARMA, OH (WOIO) –
The city of Parma is about to suffer a major blow. A huge employer is packing its bags and heading elsewhere.
GrafTec is expected to leave the city by the end of the year.
Monday 19 Action News reporter Paul Orlousky received a copy of a letter in which the company notified the state of Ohio that it plans a mass layoff in Parma.
The move is expected to be a million-dollar hit to city budget.
The facilities in Parma house high paying jobs including the CEO, Executive Staff and Research and Development labs.
The state got four notices of job losses and we’re told the total number of employees affected could be close to 200, with some being transferred.
