Monica Bellucci joins the long list of beloved Bond girls, which includes favorites like Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Rosamund Pike, Eva Green, and Terri Hatcher. There is one thing in particular about Bellucci, however, that sets her apart from the dozens of Bond girls before her – her age.

At 50 years old, Monica Bellucci makes history as the oldest Bond girl to date.

Bellucci, who lost the role of Paris Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) to Terri Hatcher, was announced as the new Bond girl in the franchise’s upcoming film, Spectre.

Before Bellucci, Honor Blackman held the title of oldest Bond girl, as she was 39 when she appeared inGoldfinger (1964) as Pussy Galore.

The Italian beauty is a household name in Italy and France, as she has starred in films like Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malena and Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ, but she has yet to truly become an international star.

With her new role as James Bond’s latest love interest, that is sure to change quickly.

According to The Independent, Bellucci first got her start in the entertainment world as a model. After moving to Milan in 1989, Bellucci scored jobs for high-fashion designers like Dior and Dolce & Gabbana before delving into the world of acting.
