CLEVELAND – A passerby said he caught two Cleveland EMS workers sleeping in their ambulance on Thursday and recorded video of the incident.

The incident happened in the parking lot of Halloran ice rink on Cleveland’s near west side.

It is unclear whether the workers were on break.

“Wake up,” yelled Isaac Nelson in the video. “You’ve been sitting there for over 15 minutes. Check your radio.”

Nelson said he passed by the sleeping workers twice in 45 minutes.

“These are lives they’re messing with,” he added. “I think he should be dealt with, both of them.”

Nelson said he first noticed the napping workers twice at 9:45 am on Thursday when he got off the bus to walk to a friend’s house.

When he left to get back on the bus at 10:30 am, he said they were still asleep.

“Who knows how long they had been there,” he said. “They could have been there longer.”

Nelson was so upset that he called 911 to report what he witnessed, especially because two years ago, he said he needed Cleveland EMS after he was assaulted.

Nelson said an ambulance never showed up for him that day.

A meeting is scheduled with a city official on Friday to show the video he took, Nelson said.
