CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
Cuyahoga County Health Officials confirm this is already starting to be a rough flu season.
Over the past three weeks, there have been 309 flu-related hospital admissions. That is 162% higher than last year, a total of 191 more cases.
The previous five-year average for this year is 40 hospitalizations.
429 people visited hospital emergency rooms for flu and flu-like symptoms. That is the highest number in five years and 154% higher than last year.
The rate of school absenteeism due to illness of all types is 5% this past week, 20% higher than the five-year average for this time of year
The number of doctor visits due to influenza-like illness has nearly tripled over the past four weeks.
