CLEVELAND – Two officers were taken to the hospital after a scuffle with a suspect who fired a gun so close to one officer’s head it caused burns on his face.

Cleveland Police say they responded to a burglary on Redell Avenue at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers say when the homeowner returned home, the burglars were found in the house.

A burglar shot at the homeowner, according to police. The victim was not believed to be injured during the incident.

At about 5:30 p.m., police say they spotted a silver pickup truck matching the description of the getaway car in the burglary.

Police say when they tried to pull the truck over, it took off, but then pulled into a driveway on Redell Avenue, about 10 blocks from where the burglary took place.

Officers approached the truck and said the passenger got out of the vehicle. Police said they told the suspect to get back in the truck, but he did not comply.

A struggled ensued with the passenger as the driver stayed in the truck, according to police.
