Shanesha Taylor, 35, the Arizona mother who left her children in a scorching hot car in March of last year while she went on a job interview, has been sentenced to 18 years probation after pleading guilty to child abuse, AZCentral.com reports.
As previously reported by NewsOne, Taylor left her sons, who were 2 years old and 6 months old at the time, in an SUV while she interviewed for a job at a State Farm Insurance in Scottsdale. It was decided in 2014 that she would not face charges if she met the following conditions: completion of parenting and substance abuse treatment programs, and setting up and maintaining child care and education trust funds for her children using the funds she had received from supporters after her story initially broke,
After missing two deadlines to contribute money to the funds, charges were reinstated by the Maricopa County Attorney’s in October 2014.
Taylor was accused of spending the money to fund her boyfriend’s rap album, a charge she vehemently denied.
“We had someone call my office and alert her attorney to the fact that she spent $6,000 at a music studio in Tempe to finish her baby daddy’s rap album,” the Rev. Jarrett Maupin told ABC at the time. “That’s not what people gave her that money for.”
Taylor will be allowed to apply for inter-state travel.
