CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

A report out Monday in the New York Times says the city of Cleveland has reached a settlement with the Justice Department over what federal authorities said was a pattern of unconstitutional policing and excessive use of force.

The settlement is expected to be announced sometime this week.

News of an agreement comes two days after a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John O’Donnell acquitted Cleveland police officer Michael Brelo. He was found not guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the deaths of  Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell.
