CLEVELAND- Police caught a 13-year-old boy at a Cleveland park with a BB gun in his waistband on Saturday, in a case that mirrored the Tamir Rice incident except with a very different outcome.

The call came in at 7:15 p.m. at Mohican Park on Triskett Road. A report shows the caller did not know if the gun was real or fake.

Last November, police got a similar call to the Cudell Recreaction Center. A dispatcher never told the officers responding the gun may be a fake. They pulled up, and in less than two seconds, shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice, saying the boy was reaching into his waistband and had ignored commands. Rice died the next day and the gun was airsoft.

On Saturday, police said a dispatcher radioed the gun may be fake. Police saw a 13-year-old matching the description riding a bike in the middle of the park.
