Council members couldn’t even get through the Pledge of Allegiance at Monday night’s Cleveland City Council meeting.

A group of about 30 protesters attended the meeting to protest what they call an unreasonable delay in the Tamir Rice case. Rice, 12, was shot and killed by a Cleveland police officer while holding a pellet gun last November.

Police arrested one of the protesters as city council continued as scheduled, despite the disturbance.

“It is unacceptable that these homicides which are structural, historically-rooted, race and class based continue to increase with greater propensity as the days go by,” read one protester.

Several police officers entered the meeting and took the man into custody.

“Indict them. Indict those cops,” protesters shouted.
