DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Cleveland police say the person responsible for vandalizing several downtown businesses early Tuesday morning surrendered to them without a fight.

Investigators arrested Gary Bethea, 31, and charged him with vandalism.

Early Tuesday morning police got a call that a man was throwing rocks and breaking out windows in the downtown area. Once officers arrived and spotted Bethea he sat down and said, “It was me. Here I am.” Bethea also told police he was schizophrenic and needed help.

Investigators determined that Bethea was also responsible for shattering the windows at the Cuyahoga County Administration Building on East 9th, CVS at Euclid and E. 9th St., the Cleveland Clothing Co. on Euclid Ave., Prospect Music on Huron and Medical Mutual on E. 9th.
