COLUMBUS — Backers of ResponsibleOhio’s push to legalize marijuana in Ohio said they weren’t going anywhere, despite the fact that Issue 3 failed quickly in Tuesday’s election.

“I want to thank you not just for being here tonight, but for advancing the cause to make sure that we are bringing more attention to the need of the chronically ill, that we bring attention to the fact the Statehouse just can’t get it right,” ResponsibleOhio Director Ian James said.

“We wanted to change the dialogue, and we did,” James said. “This was the first step toward. We’re not going away. What we have in prohibition of marijuana does not work.”

ResponsibleOhio investor James Gould said this was the first step in a negotiation and that the group will continue to listen to voters as they craft a new plan.
