R&B singer Monica has been alive and well on social media, but we haven’t heard from her musically since her 2012 New Life album. She is currently on tour promoting her highly anticipated new album Code Red while sporting her new red hair. After having the opportunity to see “The Code Red Experience,” it was made very clear that her new project is about more than just an album, it is about her journey. The album chronicles the successful growth Monica has made in life, from the 13-year-old Miss Thang to the 35-year-old NBA wife and mother of three. “The Code Red Experience” is Monica showing how thankful she is for R&B music past/present, her fans, and more importantly, her family.

Monica Denise (nee Arnold) Brown, by the age 13, released her first studio album Miss Thang in 1995. It sold over 1 million copies in the United States. Monica became the youngest artist to have two consecutive chart topping hits on Billboard. Her second album, The Boy Is Mine, produced the duet with Brandy that earned her a Grammy Award. Then, came the yea 1999, and a chain of well documented life altering events occurred that could have been the demise for most – but not for Monica. She found solace in normalcy, and faith/family became her counselor, but her music was her therapy. Between her next three albums, Monica gave birth to her sons Rocko and Romelo. In 2010, she poured her heart into her hit single “Love All Over Me” and that song produced the love of her life, NBA player Shannon Brown, and daughter Laiyah.

Monica’s “Code Red Experience Tour” gives you a remembrance musically of all her hits since 1995, plus showcases what’s to come December 18, 2015. She continually thanks her fans for not only supporting her, but for supporting the family that travels with her and watches from the front row. She makes sure the audience recognizes the importance of R&B music by paying homage to legends, such as her mentor Whitney Houston, in a state of the art video backdrop, plus talks about the excitement of working with Timbaland and Missy Elliott again. Monica brings her background singers into the spotlight to highlight their talents. She brings her children on stage, not to show them off, but to allow you to feel the real Monica. Her show is nothing but an outpouring of love and gratitude that is felt by everyone in her audience, but most of all, the growth in all aspects of her life shines through with every note she sings. On Code Red, she’s no longer the teenage Miss Thang, she is now an NBA wife and mother that just happens to be one of the greatest R&B female singers of all time. Original Story
