CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office has been appointed as special prosecutor to investigate the death in police custody of Tanisha Anderson.

The announcement was made Wednesday,

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty said he asked the Attorney General to take over the case after investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Tuesday informed prosecutors of facts that created a conflict of interest for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s office was asked by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office to conduct an investigation into the case on Friday, June 19, 2015.
