CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The man wanted in connection to a drive-by shooting that killed a Cleveland toddler has been captured.

Tuesday morning, at 6:45 a.m. U.S. Marshals arrested Donnell Lindsey  in Smyrna, GA.

U.S. Marshals and Cleveland Police had been searching for the 23-year-old for seven months.

“Our task force never gave up on this case and never gave up on justice for Major Howard. Donnell Lindsey thought he could run forever, but he couldn’t outrun the determination of our dedicated team.  We hope some peace is felt in Major’s family tonight,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said.

On Sept. 15, 2015, Major Howard, 3, was shot in a car on East 113th Street and later died following surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center. Rob’Dasha Smith, 24, Major’s godmother, was shot in the leg, but survived.

An arrest warrant was issued for Lindsey, a.k.a. Lionel, Lonell, or Nell.

According to Cuyahoga County court records, Lindsey’s criminal history dates back to the age of 18.
