CLEVELAND – Montel Williams and Caitlyn Jenner were special guests at an LGBT brunch being held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the Republican National Convention Wednesday morning.

Jenner talked about her status as a Republican, recounting her experiences in the past year of her life, during her transition. She became emotional when talking about her father, who was a World War 2 veteran, and what she imagines he would think about the GOP today.

The American Unity Fund, a conservative nonprofit organization that does advocacy for LGBT Americans, is hosting the brunch, which also included GOP elected officials, activists and members of a number of LGBT organizations.

The event, called the “Big Tent Brunch,”  showcased conservative support for LGBT rights and work still needed to bring “full freedom and equality opportunity,” according to a statement by the organization.

Williams, a conservative activist and advocate for the LGBT community, spoke, as did Jenner,in a conversation with UAF President Margaret Hoover.
