Having already accused opponent Hillary Clinton of being the “founder” of the Islamic State, Donald Trump has now bestowed that title on someone else: President Obama.
“He was the founder, absolutely,” Trump said Thursday on CNBC, echoing comments he made the previous night during a rally near Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “In fact, he and Hillary Clinton get the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award for creating the trouble in the United States.”
When asked if it was fair to label the president as the founder of a terrorist organization, Trump said: “All I do is tell the truth. I am a truth-teller.”
During the Wednesday rally in South Florida, Trump said leaders of the Islamic State — also known as ISIS — “honor” the president, whom he identified by his full name: “Barack Hussein Obama.”
