CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Charges against the East Cleveland Three, imprisoned for a 1995 murder in East Cleveland, were dismissed this morning.

Derrick Wheat, Eugene Johnson and Laurese Glover, often called the “East Cleveland Three,” were convicted of murder in 1996 for the shooting of Clifton Hudson on Strathmore Ave. They submitted numerous appeals and were released on bond in March of 2015 after Cuyahoga County Pleas Judge Nancy Russo determined that there was “sufficient evidence of suppression” in the original handling of the trial.
