Gawker.com will cease operations next week, the site announced Thursday.
According to a post on the site, the website will shut down next week. The decision comes just days after broadcast company Univision purchased the site’s parent company, Gawker Media, for $135 million.
Gawker has been embroiled in controversy for the last four years, when the site published a sex tape of pro wrestler and reality star Hulk Hogan without his permission. Earlier this year, a judge awarded Hogan a total in $140 million in total damages.
