EASTLAKE, Ohio– Lake County health officials now say there have been 12 confirmed cases of Legionella, including one death, between July 1 and Oct. 31.

The Lake County General Health District said it took water samples from the cooling towers of Consolidated Precision Products on Lakeland Boulevard in Eastlake on Oct. 25 after being notified of several cases of Legionnaires’ disease.

The company cleaned and sanitized the cooling towers. The health department said tests indicate the risk for Legionella at CPP has been eliminated.

“It’s important to know that we will never really know the true source of the bacteria, we do know that one cooling towers was positive,” said Ron Graham, Lake County Health Commissioner.

Family members said 54-year-old Anthony Washington, of Cleveland, worked next door to CPP as a tool and die maker at Press Rite. He died on Aug. 8, less than a week after checking into the hospital.
