DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
Most people associate the iconic red kettles and bellringers with The Salvation Army and its efforts to serve the poor and needy in our area, especially during the holidays.
On Saturday, November 26, as part of the official kickoff to kettle season, The Salvation Army’s large red kettle will appear in Public Square as a focal point of Winterfest. The kettle is so large that volunteers need to climb a ladder in order to retrieve the cash donations.
The kettle program represents The Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser of the year. This year’s goal is to raise $ 722,000 through more than 100 red kettles scattered across Cuyahoga County.
