PAINESVILLE, Ohio– Just a short time after clearing crashes on a portion of Interstate 90 in Lake County, the area between Route 44 and Vrooman Rd., both eastbound and westbound, has been closed, due to an accident involving over 50 vehicles.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says there are people trapped in their vehicles and there are multiple injuries.

The area between the 205 and and 206 mile markers is closed. Do not expect the crash to be cleared for some time.

Expect heavy traffic on Rt 44 North, Rt. 2, Rt 20 and Rt 84 in Painesville, Perry, and Madison areas, as well traffic getting off at 615 and 306 in Mentor off I-90.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office asks that, if possible, please stay off the road in these areas during the traffic rerouting.
