GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio– The Ohio Department of Transportation will not be pre-treating highways in District 12 ahead of this week’s snowstorm. District 12 covers Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties.

Geauga County is under a lake effect snow warning from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Friday. A lake effect show watch is in effect for Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties from 7 p.m. Wednesday through late Thursday night. More than 8 inches of accumulation is possible, and temperatures will drop to the single digits, according to the National Weather Service.

ODOT spokeswoman Amanda McFarland said there is enough residual salt on the roads so pre-treating was canceled. Crews will be out patrolling because the snow is expected to start Wednesday evening.
