CLEVELAND – The city held a news conference at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and announced that today was the last day for recovery operations in Lake Erie for the plane that went missing over Lake Erie on Dec. 29.
Commissioner of Burke Lakefront Airport, Khalid Bahhur provided most of the details.
Crews returned to the water Tuesday to resume their search efforts, specifically looking for more human remains. None were recovered.

A statement from Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Thomas Gilson was read, stating that, using the DNA provided by the families of those six people on the Cessna Citation 525, three positive identifications have been made.
Gilson’s statement did not specify whose remains were identified.
Once the Cleveland Police Department finalizes its report, the National Transportation Safety Board will move forward with its investigation, according to officials.
Going forward, the Cleveland Division of Police will provide the FAA and the NTSB with its completed accident report. The NTSB and FAA will move forward with their investigation regarding the cause of the accident.The costs incurred in the search and recovery efforts will be compiled and shared with the appropriate agencies, including the insurance agency, according to Bahhur.
Bahhur added, “Again, a decision like this one is not made lightly, but it is decision that must be made at some point to provide closure to the families, and to those who worked closely on this operation. We continue to ask that you respect the families as they grieve their losses, seek closure and move forward in the healing process.”
