CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced a local transportation and tourism promotion for individuals to ride for a lower rate.

The “Go RTA” program allows children under 12 to ride the RTA for free when they are accompanied by a fare-paying adult. The adult must be 18 or older and up to three children may ride with each adult.

“It will make traveling around Greater Cleveland less expensive, and provide for families to visit places they’ve never visited before,” RTA CEO and General Manager Joe Calabrese said.

RTA is partnering with Cleveland Metroparks, Holden Gardens, and other various businesses around the Cleveland area. RTA expects this promotion to increase ridership, build the community, and expand an environmentally friendly area.

Calabrese said the idea encourages public transportation.

“It’s really exposing people to the great things RTA has to offer,” Calabrese said.
