Two men were wounded after an officer-involved shooting that occurred overnight outside of an Akron nightclub.

The shooting happened around 2:20 a.m. Sunday following a large fight outside of Zar Nightclub on South Main Street.

Akron police say their officers responded to the large fight when they observed two men threatening other patrons and officers with a firearm.

That’s when an officer fired shots at the suspects. Police say shots were also fired at the officers.

Police say a 21-year-old man and 23-year-old man were both transported to Akron City Hospital in serious condition.

Police say at least one of the suspects was shot by the officer. It’s unclear who wounded the second suspect. BCI is assisting in the investigation.
