It is being reported that Facebook made the decision to ban some high-profile users from their social media platform.  Nation of Islam leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan, was banned for violating their rules on using anti-Semitic language, designating him as dangerous.  Minister Farrakhan as well as right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones of “InfoWars,” accounts were removed from Instagram as well because Facebook owns that platform also.  The alleged decision was made after years of pleasure from the social media giant to crack down on bigotry.

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement provided to CNN Business. “The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”
