May is a month of celebration of new beginnings for high school and college students graduations. Often times after these celebrations comes the fear of the unknown and the stress of finances. However this year billionaire Robert F. Smith, an African-American businessman, investor, and philanthropist wanted to help with that fear.

This past weekend Robert Smith was the Morehouse College class of 2019 commencement speaker, and at the end of his speech he gave the entire HBCU class of 2019 a gift of a lifetime, a gift that no one, and that includes the University it self seen coming. Robert F. Smith who’s estimated worth according to Forbes is $5 billion dollars, invested in “our future” by saying that he was payoff the entire classes student loans. An announcement that was received by the students and followed by a thank you that came in the form of a standing ovation for Robert F. Smith’s generous act.
