Just when the city of Cleveland thought things couldn’t get any worse…

Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Delonte West pleaded guilty to two weapons charges in Maryland, and was sentenced to eight months of home detention, two months of probation and 40 hours of community service.

West had been charged with six weapons offenses and two traffic violations. He pleaded guilty to carrying a dangerous weapon — an eight-inch bowie knife — and illegally transporting a handgun.

When he was pulled over by a police officer on September 17, 2009, police found two handguns, a shotgun, the bowie knife and over 100 shotgun rounds.

State’s Attorney of Princes George County, MD, Glenn F. Ivey said that the sentence will allow West to play with the Cavaliers in Ohio, and he will be able to attend practices and both home and away games.
