Buckeyes Visit White House, JD Vance Fumbles Trophy [PHOTOS]

The Ohio State Buckeyes made their championship moment official Monday, visiting the White House to celebrate their 2024 national title win over Notre Dame. The Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day were honored in a South Lawn ceremony with President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and a few other familiar Ohio faces, including Governor Mike DeWine.

Ohio State took the title in a 34-23 win against Notre Dame back in January, marking it their first national championship since 2014.

Monday’s White House visit was filled with the usual pomp and pride, but one moment quickly stole the show… and it wasn’t part of the script.

During the ceremony, Vice President JD Vance attempted to lift the championship trophy for a photo-op and didn’t realize the top and base were separate. The top wobbled loose, caught just in time by running back TreVeyon Henderson, while the base fell to the ground and rolled away. Gasps and giggles could be heard during the livestream. Even the Marine Corps Band (mid-performance of “We Are the Champions”) paused during the chaos. Like a well-placed cartoon record scratch.

Coach Day and the team presented President Trump with a signed helmet and a custom OSU jersey before taking photos with guests and supporters.
