New Music Released This Week (September 15th – September 19th):
Cardi B Highlights This Week’s New Music Roundup was originally published on globalgrind.com
1. Thundercat
Source:ThundercatThe amazing Thundercat returns with his first original music in two years, “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time” and “Children of the Baked Potato” (feat. Remi Wolf), out now via Brainfeeder. The tracks arrive just a month before he kicks off a tour of North America.
Thundercat fans can rejoice that they’re getting not one but two offerings from the big bad bassist, both of which feature input from the legendary Greg Kurstin. “I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time,” with its relaxed bassline and Thunder’s soft falsetto, taps into the classic Thundercat sound. The riffs, nimble and familiar, are easy to slip into, a welcome return to form from a master at his craft.
Meanwhile, “Children of the Baked Potato” invokes a more urgent energy, one where Thunder is matched by Remi Wolf’s commanding wails. The song’s title refers to the legendary hole-in-the-wall jazz club in LA, (which, you guessed it, exclusively serves baked potatoes), and which, for over 50 years, has showcased the best in LA’s jazz scene, fusion greats and studio icons. It is the place to see your favorite musician’s favorite musicians and was a massive influence on Thundercat.
“She’s [Remi] a child of the Baked Potato like me,” Thundercat says. “She knew exactly what the song needed. And it was wild to watch her make it happen. The more I listen to the song, it’s clear there was no one better I could have picked.”
“Children of the Baked Potato” premiered earlier today as part of a takeover of Shibuya TV’s massive outdoor screen in Tokyo’s bustling central district plus 42 outdoor screens in Miyashita Park, one of Tokyo’s buzziest urban hangouts with fans invited to experience it IRL. Thundercat and Remi Wolf also joined Zane Lowe for an interview on Apple Music’s New Music Daily show.
Next month, fans can catch Thundercat as he embarks on a tour of North America, including a date at III Points Festival in Miami and Camp Flog Gnaw in LA. You can purchase tickets HERE.
Although it’s been more than five years since his last full length, It Is What It Is, Thundercat keeps himself busy. Collaborations with Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Silk Sonic, Katraynada, and Justice maintained his presence in the music realm, while the bassist has also branched out into acting with roles in Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. Continuing his foray into the realm of television, the bassist joined Yo Gabba Gabba for a special performance at NPR’s Tiny Desk and appeared as a featured musical guest on the rebooted Yo Gabba Gabbaland Apple TV+. This past April, he appeared at the show’s Coachella set for both weekends. He’s stuck in your head, he’s playing in Gap ads, he’s onstage with Steve Lacy and Red Hot Chili Peppers — Thundercat’s warm, playful presence is never too far away, and life’s all the more enlivened by it.
2. OBN Jay – Me Against The World
Source:OBN JayIt’s just him against the world, and Louisiana native OBN Jay is ready to prove why he’s built for it. With the release of Me Against The World, he delivers his most complete body of work to date, a two-disc project that captures his hunger, charisma, and rise. Available now via OBN Entertainment/MNRK Music Group, the album follows the release of his single “Break The Chains,” adding another layer of urgency and conviction to a rollout that’s only gaining momentum.
Alongside the album, OBN Jay drops the video for “Back Stage,” a late-night street piece that mirrors his raw intensity. Rapping outside under the glow of streetlights and cruising through the city, the clip brings his world into focus with unfiltered energy.
Over the past year, he’s delivered a string of bouncy, dance-ready singles that caught fire on social media and amplified the buzz around his name. Tracks like “New Wave,” “Tequila Talk” featuring Hd4president, and the hometown anthem “New BR” with Snug and Khris James gave fans a glimpse into his infectious, confident, and unapologetically Southern style. Each release added fuel to the fire, and now the full vision comes into focus.
“This album is me, the wins, the losses, the growth, and the fun too. Everything I can’t say in a caption, it’s all here. What I’ve lived, what I’ve lost, and what I’m still fighting for,” says OBN Jay.
Me Against The World captures the full spectrum of what makes OBN Jay stand out. His natural presence, relentless drive, and ability to speak from the heart without losing the vibe all shine through. Whether it’s a club anthem or something more reflective, he brings purpose and personality. Across the project, he shares the moments that shaped him while still keeping the tempo high and the pulse alive.
Disc One focuses on the raw, energetic side of OBN Jay, street-ready flows, fast-paced groove, and aggressive confidence. Tracks like “We The Motion,” “Back Stage,” and “Through The Storm” underscore his foundation and focus. Meanwhile, Disc Two showcases depth, growth, and clarity, with songs like “Rich And Dangerous,” “2AM In Chrome Hearts,” “Catch A Vibe,” and “Strength” pushing toward introspection and ambition.
The album amplifies his Southern roots while exploring new dimensions of his artistry, blending rhythm, melody, and storytelling with co-signs from key voices in his city. Whether he’s moving the crowd or speaking from the soul, OBN Jay brings both presence and perspective.
This is OBN Jay, turned all the way up!

Source:Dave East“I just feel like whatever you put out, it comes back, whether it’s good or bad,” says Dave East, reflecting on the concept behind his acclaimed Karma series. “And my karma was getting in the rap game. I’ve put in a lot of work, a lot of consistency—year after year—and the karma of that was me being able to provide for my family, move out of the projects, and take my talents all over the world from music, into TV, film, and fashion.”
Today, the Harlem-bred rapper announces the highly anticipated fourth installment of his Karma series—Karma 4—which will be released on 10.15.25. Alongside the announcement, East has dropped a brand-new single, “Havana,” which is now available at all DSPs. The new album announcement comes on the heels of Dave’s recent appearance on Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 3, where Dave also released a new On The Radar Freestyle and previewed a new Nipsey Hussle song that will be featured on Karma 4.
Since its inception in 2017, the Karma series has become an essential piece of Dave East’s prolific catalog. Karma introduced listeners to his unfiltered storytelling with features from Chris Brown, Offset, Lil Durk, and Moneybagg Yo. A year later, Karma 2 followed with collaborations from Gunna and Fabolous, further cementing the series’ reputation. In 2020, East partnered with Def Jam/Mass Appeal for Karma 3, which boasted an all-star lineup including Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Benny The Butcher, Trey Songz, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Young Dolph, Dej Loaf, G Herbo, and Jeezy.
Now, five years later, Karma 4 represents both a continuation and an evolution—an album rooted in the grind and growth that has defined Dave East’s journey, while setting the stage for his next era.

Jabari, rising R&B artist and the BET and NAACP Award-nominated actor from Peacock’s hit drama Bel-Air, makes his formal musical introduction with a project that fully showcases his range as both an entertainer and storyteller. Following the buzz-building singles Something Else and Weekend Drive, which together generated over 2 million streams and more than half a million video views, Jabari delivers an eight-track body of work that expands on his foundation of downbeat R&B while embracing a steamier, more sultry side. The result is a daring debut that positions him as one of Hollywood’s most multifaceted heartthrobs, seamlessly merging his charisma on-screen with his artistry in the studio.
His on-screen background informs the storytelling of ULTRA, which plays like a short film written by a hopeless romantic navigating love, temptation, and self-discovery. From the cinematic opening Lobby to the emotionally vulnerable Makeup Sex and the playful “what if” narrative of In My Head, the project takes listeners on an exhilarating ride through the complexities of passion and growth. It builds toward Ultra, its namesake centerpiece, before closing with Amen, where his grandmother’s prayer roots the project in gratitude and faith.
“ULTRA feels like unlocking a time capsule of the last four years,” says Jabari. “It carries the highs and lows, the lessons, and the love that shaped me, and it’s my way of showing the world that music has always been at the center of my story. More than anything, I hope it speaks to anyone navigating their own journey of dreams and growth.”
The arrival of ULTRA comes at a pivotal time in his career. The PG County, Maryland native has captivated Hollywood with his breakout role as Will on Bel-Air, earning nominations from both the BET Awards and NAACP Awards. With the show’s fourth and final season premiering on November 24th, Jabari marks this transition by stepping confidently into music, a passion that has guided him since his teenage years. This song is a reminder to myself and, hopefully anyone listening, that we carry everything we need inside of us.”
With its resonant lyrics and heartfelt delivery, “BLESSINGS” underscores Naïka’s gift for weaving intimate storytelling with universal truths, offering listeners a message of hope, patience, and faith.

11. Denzel Curry – HIM
Source:Denzel CurryAhead of tomorrow’s nationwide premiere of Universal Pictures’ HIM, a terrifying original horror film directed by Justin Tipping and produced by Oscar winner Jordan Peele and his company Monkeypaw Productions, Loma Vista Recordings shares the final single and title track “HIM” by Denzel Curry from HIM – The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Arriving alongside an On The Radar performance ahead of the full soundtrack available everywhere tomorrow, the song follows previously released singles, “Blitz” by Jean Dawson, “Tip Toe” by Tierra Whack and “SWIM” by Guapdad 4000 featuring MAVI.
Both Tierra Whack and Guapdad 4000 also make their cinematic debuts in HIM, a chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame and idolatry starring Marlon Wayans in an electrifying dramatic performance and Tyriq Withers, as well as Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies.
The horror film is anchored by the cinematic soundscapes of BAFTA Award-winning composer Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) and also features new music from Maxo Kream, LaRussell, Ovrkast., Larry June, Sampa The Great, Mike & Keys and more.
HIM director Tipping has created something unique in a horror film set in the world of professional sports. “Justin Tipping is an incredible visionary,” producer Jordan Peele says. “There is so much striking imagery in HIM that you will never see in another film, and to that, Justin and his team have added all these cinematic layers, from the music to the cinematography to the editing. He is a one-of-a-kind filmmaker, and this film is like nothing I have ever seen.”
The music for HIM is no exception. With this film, Krlic delivers one of his boldest works yet: a score that shifts between wonder and unease, drawing from childhood fantasy and unsettling horror while pushing those contrasts through a contemporary lens. The score was recorded with a 50-piece orchestra composed of some of the world’s finest string players and features a haunting children’s choir.
“Justin Tipping gave me the freedom to see how far I could bend the genre without losing the emotional thread,” Krlic says. “When Justin and I met, we clicked immediately. We’re the same age, grew up listening to a lot of the same music, and had the same reference points across film, art, food, everything. We were just singing from the same hymn sheet. It’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had writing music for anything.”
The HIM soundtrack is designed as a piece of work with its own gravity.
“There’s a school of thought that says a score should be invisible, but I don’t necessarily believe that,” Krlic says. “A great score should know when to guide the audience, when to surprise them and when to announce itself. If the process is right, it can tell as much of the story as anything else on screen.”
Speaking about her cinematic debut, Tierra shares, “I’m truly grateful for the experience of being in my first film. With the support of director Justin Tipping, producer Jamal Watson, composer Bobby Krlic and the rest of the team, I learned so much about myself and the process. It made me even more excited to continue exploring film and TV in the future. Marlon Wayans was a big supporter for me on and off set, and Tyriq Withers and I have been hanging out and talking ever since we met! It is truly an honor to be involved in such a masterpiece.”
Speaking on his contribution, Jean shares, “Went to film school to learn “how to make movies” so I could score my own films, so when I received a call from the team that HIM wanted me to make an original record for the film I was excited. So I made Blitz which is the sound of adrenaline. There’s a line in one of my past songs, I don’t keep score, I keep scoring, feel that quote embodies everyone involved in HIM.”
Speaking on his involvement Guapdad 4000 shares: “It’s one thing to be in a movie for the first time, and it’s even crazier to make a song for the soundtrack of that movie, so to have the opportunity to do both is a blessing. Thank God, I’m HIM!”
Physical formats of the HIM soundtrack will come in the way of double vinyl and a CD. 1st pressing vinyl offered on the retail level will come as a 2xLP on special Blood Red colored, standard weight vinyl that will be issued one time only in a double wide spine jacket. An exclusive 2xLP version of the soundtrack will be offered exclusively via the Loma Vista and Waxworks webstores. Housed in a gatefold jacket on 180g vinyl with special Blood Red Orb with Splatter colored vinyl (via Loma Vista) and Blood Team Uniform colored vinyl (via Waxworks). Hunxho, fresh off consistent releases like Thank God and For Us—which helped push his total streams past 1 billion—shows no signs of slowing down. From his sold-out “One Night Only” Tour, he continues to prove himself as one of hip-hop’s most important emerging voices, steadily cementing his place in the culture through authenticity, relentless work ethic, and a growing catalog that resonates worldwide.
19. Amber Mark – Too Much
Source:Amber MarkToday, critically adored singer, songwriter, and producer Amber Mark shares the thrilling next taste of her highly anticipated sophomore album, Pretty Idea, with the new single “Too Much.” The sweetly romantic cut leans into Marks’ love for classic R&B by interpolating USHER and Alicia Keys’ 2004 hit “My Boo.” Stream “Too Much” HERE via PMR / Interscope Records, and pre-save Pretty Idea, which is due out on October 10, HERE.
Pretty Idea drops just ahead of Mark joining the North American leg of Sabrina Carpenter’s arena-conquering Short n’ Sweet Tour, which has grown to include four nights at Madison Square Garden and six at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. The tour launches October 23 in Pittsburg, hitting iconic venues in Nashville and Toronto, too. Tickets HERE and dates below.
“Too Much” makes good on its source material as Mark addresses an on-again, off-again love: “Is it too much if I’m thinking about you daily? / It isn’t too much, late night calling me up all wavy / Stop playing, you know I’m your favorite / Let’s not complicate it / Boy, you gotta say it isn’t too much.” With production from KingJet (Teddy Swims, Mac Miller), Chase.wav (Khalid, Kiana Ledé), and Julian Bunetta (Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams), the track mixes lightly funky guitar with a grooving hip-hop beat, while Mark brings her best ’90s/00s songstress stylings.
Mark recently announced Pretty Idea with a special message to her fans: “This album carries many highs and lows and lessons I didn’t know I needed. So excited to finally share these songs with you. Consider this my way of turning all my bad ideas into Pretty ones.”
She’s already debuted two other “ideas” from the forthcoming LP: the sticky lead single “Sweet Serotonin,” which embraces a more throwback soul sound, and “Let Me Love You,” a driving and hypnotic cut that Stereogum hailed as, “a synthy, effervescent, bass-popping disco-funk track that keeps Mark’s run of excellence going strong […] Amber Mark is so reliably great that she is — almost by default, given her lack of A-list status — one of this era’s most underrated pop stars.” Pretty Idea is set to include appearances by Anderson .Paak and John The Blind.
Mark’s last project was November’s Loosies EP, a free-wheeling set meant to hold fans over while she finished Pretty Idea. Featuring the playful “Wait So Yeah,” blissful disco cut “Won’t Cry,” and sultry Jersey club flip “Sink In,” Loosies racked up fan and critic love. The New York Times included “Wait So Yeah” in their The Playlist feature. Wonderland shouted out Mark’s “boundless creativity and undeniable artistry.” And The Fader observed, “If Loosies was meant to quell the impatience of waiting for Mark’s next record, I’m afraid it’s only done the opposite.”
Pretty Idea will be Mark’s first album since 2022’s Three Dimensions Deep, which received near-universal praise upon release. Considering the songs shared so far and the massive tour dates ahead, it looks like the multi-hyphenate talent is in the process of outdoing herself.

22. Bakar – BEASTIE
Source:bakarToday, acclaimed UK artist Bakar drops his anxiously awaited new project BEASTIE. Listen HERE. He celebrates its arrival by also releasing the official music video for new single “bleach” today.
Regarding BEASTIE, Bakar comments, “i don’t even know what this thing we made is, album? ep? mixtape? idk and i don’t really care tbh. call it what you wanna call it. i’m just happy to have made it cos its beautiful and proper sounds like the inside of my brain right now – every song on here made in the last 8 weeks, shit feels good.”
As it should…
The eight-track body of work sees Bakar in top form creatively as he makes a sonic and spiritual statement straight from the soul. The title breaks down into an acronym for “Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence,” mirroring the unpredictable ebb-and-flow of the music itself. As the opener, “bleach” effectively sets the tone for the trip to follow. Gently plucked notes on an acoustic guitar ring out through a soft haze, and he wrestles with a one-sided relationship. The accompanying visual similarly echoes this emotional complexity.
Bakar rolled into BEASTIE season with “Lonyo!,” sampling 2000 hit “Summer of Love” by UK phenomenon Lonyo. The accompanying visual HERE directed by renowned English-French director-writer-photographer Tom Emmerson [Doechii, Col3trane, AntsLive], was filled with uncontainable enthusiasm and choreography matching the song’s energy perfectly. Elsewhere on the project, are the effervescent “Bitty,” otherworldly “Hey Doc,” and lithe delivery on “Backseat.” BEASTIE affirms Bakar as a fearless maverick who breaks boundaries only to find beauty between the cracks with unshakable choruses and undeniable lyricism.
Continuing to progress, pulling listeners deep into his immersive sonic world while he continues to challenge himself to break stylistic boundaries, Bakar is currently featured on Justin Bieber’s “DON’T WANNA” track off of Justin’s blockbuster SWAG II album, receiving much critical praise. Billboard applauded, “It’s a good match of voices and vibes,” and DAZED raved, “UK indie anti-hero Bakar’s raspy vocals provide a strong antidote to Bieber’s pop clarity.”
This year, Bakar has notably performed everywhere from Outside Lands to Reading and Leeds Festival with more touring news to follow.
Bakar’s music has also translated into fashion, where he has modeled for brands like Louis Vuitton, as part of Virgil Abloh’s inaugural runway show, as well as Prada’s “A Gift To Give” campaign. He recently starred in Giorgio Armani’s “That’s So Armani” campaign, proving that from stage to runway, there isn’t much that he can’t do.

32. Rio Da Yung Og – STILL F.L.I.N.T. (Feeling Like I’m Not Through)
Source:Rio Da Yung OGSince emerging from prison in late 2024, Rio Da Yung OG has been on a tear, working nonstop to make up for his lost time. Today, the buzzing Michigan rapper keeps his run going, expanding his debut album by releasing STILL F.L.I.N.T. (Feeling Like I’m Not Through). Adding 9 new songs to F.L.I.N.T. (Feeling Like I’m Not Through), which racked up 50+ million streams across platforms in its first month of release and earned an 8.0 review from Pitchfork, Still F.L.I.N.T. is a testament to Rio’s work ethic, recorded as he prepared for his 60-date “Welcome Home Tour,” which stretched from summer to fall.
The expanded album is home to the recent single, “Easy Kill” (#13 on YouTube Trending for Music, #100 on YouTube’s Weekly U.S. Music Video Chart, over 1 million views in less than two weeks), and adds a guest spot from Veeze on “Skittle Head.” Each of the nine new songs adds several quotable one-liners, with punchlines that highlight the absurdity Rio perceives in the drastic changes of his circumstances, from poverty in Flint to regional stardom to prison to national name. “Blow my nose in my Chrome shirt, I don’t want a napkin,” rhymes Rio on “Smoke.” As funny as Rio can be, he underscores his music with a profound sense of urgency, aiming to make the most of his time on the outside: “If I showed you an M in all blues, would you say something?/100 M’s in the bank, I know that day comin’/Everyday that I’m awake, I’m tryna make somethin’/Like why the f*ck you leavin’ out yo’ house if you ain’t makin’ money?,” he spits on “Ripped Jeans.” STILL FLINT is available on all platforms via M I N E Ent. / EMPIRE.

Continuing this summer and fall, “Welcome Home Tour” spans over 60 dates, passing through New York on September 24th (Webster Hall) before concluding in Chicago on October 11th (Patio Theater). Sango), a Seattle-to-Seattle collaboration years in the making, has already received support from DSPs, including being the cover of Amazon’s Break Through Hip-Hop playlist.
2025 has proven to be Yonny’s takeoff moment. 35. LG Malique – Ion Know Why
Source:LG MaliqueArkansas-raised, Atlanta-based soul-stirring rapper LG Malique returns with a powerful new single, “Ion Know Why.” Listen HERE via Warner Records. Crafted in real time with his fans during a TikTok LIVE session, the track finds Malique confronting betrayal and fake love head-on, transforming pain into purpose with his signature mix of vulnerability and grit.
With haunting piano chords, pitched-down soul samples, and moody textures, “Ion Know Why” channels the storm before the calm. Malique lays it bare: “Thought you was real, but you ain’t solid, dog… Left when I was down, now when I’m up you call.” But instead of wallowing, he pivots to what fuels him most — staying true to his values and providing for his daughter.
LG Malique shared that “‘Ion Know Why’ is about being counted out by the people closest to you when you’re down, witnessing those same people switch up again when you’re up, and not really understanding why, but coming to terms with it and setting boundaries. I found the inspiration while cooking up on TikTok Live. Once I heard the beat I already knew what to talk about. I also had the support of my fans who always chime in and collaborate with me, so this song is a special collaboration between me & the people who always have my back.”
“Ion Know Why” continues the momentum from Malique’s breakout Carved in Gold EP, a project that cemented him as one of rap’s most necessary new voices. That collection of melodic street anthems earned praise from outlets like BET who said “LG Malique paints a picture of his resilience” and Sound & Vision who proclaimed that “sharing positivity and encouraging uplifting vibes that permeate… transcending a genre overloaded with empty boasting.”
Rooted in his self-defined “Living Gold” ethos—turning hardship into inspiration—Malique’s story resonates with anyone navigating life and striving for better. His music has already connected on a massive scale: Living Gold delivered the viral “Seven Years” remake which has over 17 million streams and press support from Wonderland, Billboard, Notion, Earmilk, and more. Meanwhile, his Gold Mic Series performances showcased his natural charisma and soul-baring vocals, proving he’s as commanding live as he is in the studio.
