Last week, 21 Savage continued to do something we’ve come to know him for…give back to his community. Through his Leading By Example Foundation, the Grammy-winning artist and philanthropist launched the inaugural “Bank Account Financial Literacy Week” in partnership with DeKalb County schools.
In collaboration with Wealthy Habits, the new initiative was introduced last Monday (May 5th), with a live panel event at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia. It continued throughout the week by making stops at four other participating schools in the county including Salem Middle, Panola Way Elementary, Peachtree Middle and Bethund Middle. Students were able to take part in hour and a half sessions that focused primarily on developing strong money management skills. In addition to hearing inspirational stories and getting real-world advice, each student in attendance received a complimentary financial literacy handbook to reinforce the lessons they were taught during the week.
On top of that, the launch event also featured a very meaningful panel discussion moderated by Michael Early, a financial advisor from Wells Fargo. Attendeeds were blessed to get insight from Danielle Bell, Executive Director of the Leading By Example Foundation; Kimmuel Bryan-Joseph, Accountant/AR Specialist and brother of 21 Savage; and Tammy Brook, Founder/CEO of FYI Brand Group ad Co-founder of Get to Yes Productions.

The panelists weren’t the only ones who spoke highly of the initiative though. Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson also shared remarks, citing the foundation’s work as a valuable investment in the future of DeKalb County’s young adults. In a press release, she said, “I am proud to partner with 21 Savage, DeKalb Schools and Wealthy Habits to provide enriched resources and life skills to our youth.”
This is completely on brand for 21, especially considering the fact that his foundation released a digital financial literacy workbook, “Master Your Money: Financial Success 101 Guide With 21 Savage” last year. All fourteen sessions held last week align with Leading By Example Foundation’s mission to educate and empower the next generation with essential financial knowledge.
